Summer Harvest Wrap-up

14 February 2019:
Last Sunday was a perfect afternoon for celebrating the abundant Summer Harvest! Lunch was served in the garden under the wisteria and rose arbour. The seven vibrant dishes crafted from fresh, seasonal ingredients were perfectly matched with stunning, award-winning local wines. Many thanks to our guest speakers, Tony Cogsriff from Centennial Vineyards and Jeff Aston from Tractorless Vineyard who shared their passion and insights.

Chef and Loch owner Brigid Kennedy also shared her wealth of knowledge, with guests learning the differences between a male and female zucchini flower, and what to do with green tomatoes to make them so tasty. The yabbies foraged by The Loch’s farrier were a highlight of the menu, served simply with sorrel mayo.

The farm’s generosity was extended from Chinese New Year, with guests invited to take home some of the garden bounty of pumpkins and zucchinis on the table, along with a piece of our jade money tree – symbolising prosperity.

A surprise on the day was discovering a new beef producer amongst the diners, who raises Welsh Blacks – Wales’ only native cattle breed – perfect for dry aging. We’ll be supporting them by featuring their beef at our next Foodie Field Day, Festival of the Roast, coming up in April. Book now to reserve your seat at the table!
